Text tool

The text tool places a label anywhere on screen, in the marker's colours, so an annotation can say what is wrong instead of only pointing at it.

Using it

  1. Open the toolbox and click the Tt button.
  2. Click where the label should go and type. Press Esc or Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac) when you are done.
  3. Drag a label to move it. Click into its text to edit it again.
  4. Pick another colour from the arrow next to the button. With a label selected, the pick recolours it.
  5. To remove a label, empty it or click the × on its corner.

Example: say what the circle means

After circling a price with the marker pen, switch to the text tool: the circle stays, and the label goes right next to it.

A red circle around a price, with a red label reading "Should be £8.99"

Good to know

  • Labels share the marker's inks: changing the colour in one changes it in the other.
  • Putting the text tool away keeps the labels on the page. Closing the toolbox removes them, and so does a reload.
  • Labels are drawn on the screen, like the marker's strokes, and screenshots include them.
